U.S. President Joe Biden plans to hold a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the morning of February 11 (China time). This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
Bloomberg emphasizes that if such a phone conversation takes place, it will be the first conversation between the two leaders since Biden took office on January 20 this year.
Biden, speaking at the Pentagon on Feb. 10, said the United States is creating a working group on China, including to address defense challenges. The U.S. leader said the civilian and military experts who will be part of this group will prepare recommendations to U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin within a few months. Special Assistant Secretary of Defense Eli Ratner will lead the group.
