Merkel declared Trump gas war

The confrontation over the further construction of Nord Stream 2 is even more fierce.

Donald Trump, lobbying for the interests of American gas producers, is trying to prevent Russian gas from entering the European market. In turn, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is trying to prevent this, since American fuel is much more expensive, which will damage the German economy.

Merkel even ignored Trump’s invitation, refusing to attend the G7 summit in the United States. In addition, she threatened to impose sanctions on the United States for countering Nord Stream 2. The American president is “tearing and mosque” in this regard since they have ceased to reckon with him. As a result, Trump turned to direct threats.

Thus, the White House informed Berlin that it was going to seriously reduce the US military contingent in Germany. It is expected that he will be transported to Poland. Thus, Washington is hinting to the German authorities that it will be left without protection in front of Russia.

“The FRG was informed that the American administration is thinking about reducing the military contingent in Germany,” said Ulrike Demmer, deputy official of the German Cabinet.

With this ultimatum, Trump intends to force Germany to abandon support for the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project. However, Merkel is in no hurry to follow the lead of the American president. There is a simple explanation for this.

The German chancellor is not afraid of losing his post. Previously, she had already stated her desire to leave, so she would not be scared. Meanwhile, Merkel hopes that Trump will not remain in power for long, as he failed all his campaign promises and was convicted of lies. In addition, the US president lost the support of the majority of Americans due to mistakes in the fight against coronavirus and the protest movement.

Thus, this situation can be called the gas war of Angela Merkel against Donald Trump. It should be borne in mind that if the German Chancellor squeezes the US president, Russia will benefit from this.
