German leader Angela Merkel said she was speaking at the opening of the international industrial fair Hannover Messe as German chancellor for the last time, according to the media.
“The pandemic, unfortunately, requires from us all a little more restraint and patience, but I want to say that I would very much like to meet all of you today in Hanover since this is my last speech as German Chancellor at the Hannover Messe,” said Merkel.
She added that it was a great honor for her to open the exhibition to international guests as German Chancellor.
The trade fair Hannover Messe started on April 12 and is online. As German Chancellor, Merkel has repeatedly participated in the Hannover Messe and delivered speeches.
This year the main theme of the exhibition will be “Industry 4.0” – including new communication technologies for automation and logistics in connection with the abandonment of renewable energy sources and efforts to protect the climate.
