Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is feeling well and working from the presidential palace, his interior minister said after reports that the head of state had contracted a coronavirus.

“We can say quite frankly and sincerely that the president is feeling well and coordinating things,” said Olga Sanchez, who replaced Lopez Obrador in his daily press briefing.

She said the president has mild symptoms and is expected to make a “quick and satisfactory recovery” from his illness.

“He is fully functioning as president of the Republic,” she added.

The 67-year-old Mexican leader announced Sunday that he is being treated for COVID-19, noting that he is optimistic., his interior minister said after reports that the head of state had contracted a coronavirus.
