Miguel Cardona confirmed as U.S. Secretary of Education

He previously worked in the Connecticut state government.

President Joe Biden’s nominee for U.S. Secretary of Education has been confirmed by the Senate.

Senators supported Miguel Cardona’s nomination with 64 votes in favor and 33 against. Cardona previously served as Connecticut’s education commissioner.

He will succeed Betsy Devos, who was appointed to the position by former President Donald Trump.
