Minister resigns over correspondence with 16-year-old boy

Scotland’s finance minister has lost his post because he corresponded with minors.
Scottish Finance Minister Derek Mackay has resigned over the publication in the press of his controversial correspondence with a 16-year-old boy, BBC News reports.

The 42-year-old McKay was due to submit a draft budget for 2020-2021. However, I decided that it would be wiser to leave my post. Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon has accepted Mackay’s resignation.

“I behaved stupidly and I am very sorry,” the ex-minister said.

The correspondence between the former statesman and underage boy appeared in The Scottish Sun. Derek McKay called the boy cute, called for a meeting and asked not to tell anyone about their communication.

In 2013, McKay claimed he was gay and divorced his wife.

Recall that the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine wants to dismiss the deputy because of correspondence.

Korrespondent.net also wrote that the U.S. Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland does not intend to resign because of the sex scandal.
