House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has long been heralded by Democrats and their allies in the media as some sort of master political strategist — but it looks like she’s fallen off her pedestal.
The California Democrat has dominated the headlines following President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address after she ripped up his speech for all the world to see.
Days after being slapped with a criminal complaint about tearing up the speech — which is an official government document — Pelosi is back in trouble and her aides are already on damage control.
While speaking with reporters, Pelosi failed spectacularly with her “new” talking points and actually claimed that Trump “looked a little sedated” during his address.
Pelosi said she moved to “extend a hand of friendship” to the president before his speech because she was concerned about the president’s demeanor.
“It was also an act of kindness because he looked to me like he was a little sedated,” Pelosi told reporters.
She added, “He looked that way last year too.”
“He didn’t want to shake hands,” Pelosi said. “That was that. That meant nothing to me. It had nothing to do with my tearing up [the speech].”
In other words, she just accused the president of the United States of being on drugs while delivering his historic address to the nation.

Things continue to go from bad to worse for Pelosi.
Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a criminal complaint against Pelosi after she tore up an official copy of Trump’s address, which is a violation of the law given it’s an “official government document.”
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wrote on Twitter: “BREAKING: I’m filing an ethics complaint against @SpeakerPelosi for destroying @realDonaldTrump’s State of the Union speech. Her conduct was beneath the dignity of the House, and a potential violation of the law (18 USC 2071). Nobody is above the law. She must be held accountable.”
no other Republican lawmakers have also taken action against Pelosi for her stunt.
Texas Republican Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) introduced a resolution hammering Pelosi for ripping up the document on national television, saying it was “a breach of decorum,” noting that it brought “discredit on the House.”
Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar said he is introducing a resolution to censure Pelosi for her actions.
“In response to her classless outburst, I’ve decided to introduce a resolution to censure & condemn Speaker Pelosi,” Gosar tweeted Wednesday. “In a new low, she violated the Code of Official Conduct requiring Members ‘behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.’”
To make matters worse for Pelosi, Senate voted last Wednesday to acquit Trump on both articles of impeachment.
Nancy could soon be saying good-bye to the gavel over her embarrassing anti-Trump stunt.
