Stoltenberg expressed hope for cooperation with the new U.S. administration
U.S. President Joe Biden is a “strong supporter” of NATO, and with him in office, the alliance could become even stronger, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said.
“President Biden and his inauguration as the new president opens a new chapter for our alliance because Joe Biden is a strong supporter of NATO. He knows NATO very well,” the alliance secretary-general told CNBC.
Stoltenberg said he looks forward to working with the new administration to solve problems around the world.
“We face a huge number of challenges at the same time: the rise of China, … shifting global balance of power, a more assertive Russia using force against its neighbors in Ukraine and elsewhere, and, of course, the constant threat of terrorist attacks,” he said.
“None of us can handle this alone, we have to stick together,” Stoltenberg added. – I don’t believe in America on its own and I don’t believe in Europe on its own. I believe in uniting Europe and North America within the framework of NATO.
