The owner of the Russian cargo ship “Adler” NB Shipping Company disclosed the details of the boarding of soldiers of the Greek Navy, a member of NATO. The words of the representatives of the organization are quoted by RBC.
“From a military helicopter, four soldiers of the Greek Navy (…) landed on the deck of the vessel. After a conversation with the captain and a visual inspection of the vessel, the fact of finding prohibited cargo was not established,” the company said in a statement and specified that the actions of soldiers were correct, they acted within international law.
It was reported earlier that on January 11, a group of NATO special forces landed onboard the ship Adler to check the military cargo on board. The inspection was carried out as part of monitoring compliance with the embargo on arms supplies to Libya, an operation launched by the European Union on April 1.
