Foreign diplomats living in Pyongyang were banned from going out on Tuesday, March 16. This was announced by the Russian Embassy in North Korea on its Facebook page.
The diplomatic mission reported that it had received the corresponding note on the eve of March 15. The ban applies to local and foreign personnel of all foreign embassies, without exception. The measure will be in effect from 5 am to 10 pm local time.
According to employees of the Russian embassy, the ban is associated with anti-epidemic measures, as well as the impending sandstorm in North Korea and its possible consequences.
Previously, a powerful sandstorm that came from Mongolia covered Beijing, causing the sky of the Chinese capital to turn orange. The storm resulted in severe air pollution, with meteorologists declaring a yellow hazard level.
