North Korean hackers tried to hack into the servers of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in order to obtain data on the vaccine against coronavirus. This was the accusation made by South Korea’s National Intelligence Agency (NIS), Yonhap writes.
North Korean nationals were caught attempting a cyberattack during a closed meeting of the intelligence committee of South Korea’s National Assembly (parliament).
Whether the hackers managed to gain access to any information was not disclosed.
In early February, it was reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un criticized the government and fired the country’s chief economist, appointed a month ago, because he had not found ideas to save the economy from the current crisis. At the same time, the head of state admitted that the national plans for economic development adopted earlier did not work.
