Young people throw bottles, firecrackers and smoke bombs at police officers in the Place de la République in Paris, there is a rally against the bill “On global security”.
The rally, whose participants opposed several articles of the bill “On global security,” began in Paris around 2 p.m. and took place in a calm atmosphere. A few hours later, people dressed in black joined the event and began to provoke law enforcement. They threw bottles and firecrackers at them, and chanted insulting slogans.
In response, the police were forced to use water cannons and tear gas, and detentions began.
At the end of last year, rallies began in Paris against Article 24 of the bill “On Global Security,” adopted earlier by the country’s National Assembly in its first reading.
The article penalizes the “dissemination of an image of a person or other element of identification” of a police officer or gendarme “with the apparent purpose of causing harm to their physical or mental integrity.
