The Pentagon said Friday that Defense Secretary Mark Esper gave negative coronavirus test results after meeting with President Donald Trump five days ago at an event.
Earlier it was reported that Trump and his wife Melanya gave positive results in the coronavirus test. Trump continues to serve as president and supreme commander in chief.
“In preparation for and during an international trip, Minister Esper had a negative COVID result on Monday and Wednesday. Today, he is once again being tested as planned to continue his trip. He will not return to the U.S. ahead of schedule,” Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement.
He said the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Millie, who also met with Trump last Sunday, also had a negative result on the coronavirus sample.
