The U.S. rover Perseverance transmitted the first photo of Mars immediately after landing, NASA said.
The rover landed on the planet at the estimated time of arrival. The Earth received a signal that everything went well. Three minutes later the device transmitted the first black and white picture.
The Mars 2020 mission with the rover Perseverance was launched from Earth last July. The apparatus, the fifth Mars rover in NASA’s history, is equipped with seven scientific instruments. It is supposed to collect samples of Martian soil. Onboard is a device for obtaining oxygen from the atmosphere of Mars, as well as a “space helicopter,” which will make its first flight over the surface of another planet.
