The helicopter was involved in a resupply operation. The cause of the accident was engine malfunction.
In the Philippines, a US-made Bell UH-1 Iroquois military helicopter crashed in the southern province of Bukidnon. Seven people were killed in the crash, Xinhua reported, citing a statement from the Philippine army.
“The military helicopter was involved in a resupply operation when it crashed due to an engine malfunction,” the statement said.
It is noted that both pilots and five other military personnel are among the dead.
It is pointed out that this is not the first recent tragic incident involving a helicopter of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Last July, four people were killed when a military helicopter crashed in Isabela province in the north. Four more Filipino servicemen were killed in a helicopter crash in September.
