The only way to stop the construction of the pipeline project “Nord stream-2” is a new package of American sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the expert of the Polish consulting company Esperis, Matthew Kubiak, quoted by Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
“If something can stop the Russians to complete the “Nord stream-2″ on their own, then this is a new set of US sanctions,” said Kubiak. He added that the us Congress might extend sanctions not only on the court, as was done previously, but also on other sectors.
Jyllands-Posten notes that the Russian ship-laying vessel “Akademik Chersky” came from Nakhodka to the port of Mukran in Germany, where the stock pipes for the “Nord stream-2”. This is evidenced by the monitoring system vessel traffic Vessel Finder. The publication admitted that the ship will pave the remaining 118 km of gas pipelines.
On the pipeline “Nord stream-2” with a total length of more than 2.4 thousand km under the Baltic sea should ship gas from Russia to Germany. Its construction was to be completed in 2019 but was delayed due to sanctions by Washington.
In December 2019, the President of the United States Donald Trump has imposed new sanctions against contractors who are engaged in laying pipes on the seabed. Swiss company Allseas, whose vessels are engaged in laying the pipe, had to withdraw all its ships from the area of construction of the pipeline.
After that, the head of Ministry Alexander Novak said that Russia can build a pipeline yourself using the “academic plan”. In “Gazprom” reported that the “Nord stream-2” will launch by the end of 2020.
