Since the day he took office, President Donald Trump has been fighting left-wing judges across the country who are desperately trying to stop his agenda.
Many of these activist judges have been abusing their power on the courts to push politics rather than uphold the rule of law.
And the streak continued this week when a federal judge in Oregon issued a temporary restriction on Trump’s new immigration rule.
The new rule from the Trump administration required immigrants to provide proof of obtaining U.S. health insurance or show the means to pay for it within 30 days.
The goal is obvious: the president is trying to filter out people who come to the United States solely to use our welfare system and will be largely reliant on taxpayer-funded programs and benefits.
After the rule went into effect, left-wing immigrant advocacy groups filed a lawsuit and argued that it “rewrites our immigration and healthcare laws by Presidential fiat.”
The judge ruled against the president.
Judge Michael Simon in U.S. District Court in Portland, Oregon, granted a 28-day temporary restraining order that prevents the rule from taking effect on Nov. 3. The legal challenge against it will continue.
In an 18-page order, Simon said the potential damage to would-be immigrants and their families justified a nationwide block.
Seven U.S. citizens and an advocacy organization filed a lawsuit to block the rule, arguing it “rewrites our immigration and healthcare laws by Presidential fiat” and could bar hundreds of thousands of prospective immigrants.
Prospective immigrants had been scrambling to figure out how to get the necessary coverage, navigating a complex healthcare bureaucracy that has, for the most part, not previously catered to those who are not yet in the country.
The Trump proclamation said it aims to stop healthcare providers and taxpayers from bearing “substantial costs in paying for medical expenses incurred by people who lack health insurance or the ability to pay for their healthcare.”
It cited data that “lawful immigrants are about three times more likely than United States citizens to lack health insurance.”
Trump has made combating illegal immigration a cornerstone of his presidency and 2020 campaign.
The president’s administration has been working tirelessly for almost three years to secure the border, build more of the wall, and reduce the number of illegal aliens crossing into the United States.
In order to help Border Patrol agents, Trump has given them the green light to arrest illegal aliens and detain them once they are apprehended.
Under the previous Obama-era rule, also known as “catch and release,” officials had to literally let the illegal aliens go and could not detain them.
While there’s a change in attitude and policy on illegal immigration under Trump, border arrests more than doubled during the 2019 fiscal year to 851,508 people apprehended.
For the fiscal year of 2018, there were less than 400,000 border arrests.
Every time the president implements a new policy to help secure the border and combat the historic flow of illegal immigrants at the border — liberal groups and left-wing judges step in and block the president.
