It’s a riot. The police are demanding to disperse. People throw Molotov cocktails,” police said in a statement on Twitter.
Subsequently, Molotov cocktails were used against law enforcement officers as well.

“Molotov cocktails were thrown at officers… The police are trying to restore calm and order for the safety of the area,” the statement said. One person was injured in the incident.
According to the local Oregonian, law enforcement officers in turn used tear gas against the demonstrators and also detained several people. As the newspaper notes, as of the early Sunday morning (local time), the unrest in the city has not subsided.
Protests are taking place in Portland and several other U.S. cities after the death of an African-American man, George Floyd, at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis. Protests often escalate into riots.
