A rally of thousands demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan started on Saturday on Freedom Square in Yerevan, according to a report.
The rally was organized by the “Motherland Salvation Movement” which unites about 20 political forces demanding the PM’s resignation. Opposition politicians and public figures, former deputies and former ministers, and representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church participate in the rally.

Opposition rallies are regularly held in the country demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pashinyan, which began after he signed a cease-fire agreement in Karabakh in November 2020. Opposition forces demanding his resignation have nominated former head of government Vazgen Manukyan as prime minister. In late December, Pashinyan invited political forces to consult on holding early parliamentary elections in 2021. However, later, the authorities stated that there was no public demand for elections.
