His achievements in solving environmental problems in North Carolina have attracted the attention of the whole country.

The Senate confirmed Michael Regan as head of the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

In this capacity, the head of the North Carolina regulator will be responsible for climate change and water programs.

Regan’s candidacy was confirmed with 66 votes in favor and 34 against, with 16 Republicans joining all 50 Democrats in his support.

He will become the first black American to head this department.

Regan served four years as head of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.

Its success in addressing the environmental challenges faced by low-income and predominantly non-white communities has garnered national attention.
