The heirs of the Austrian branch of the Rothschild dynasty filed a lawsuit in the court of Vienna demanding to return them the buildings taken by the Nazis from the family in 1938.
The claims came after the city authorities sold the buildings used by the Rothschild Charitable Foundation as a psychiatric hospital.
As the TV channel “360” reminds with reference to RBC, after the end of the Second World War, the Austrian authorities restored the Rothschild Charitable Foundation. However, the family was not informed about it, so all the property of the fund was nationalized by Austria.
No one has filed any lawsuits for years. However, Albert von Rothschild’s great-great-grandson Jeffrey Hogue said that the Authorities of Vienna had specially issued documents on the ownership of the buildings on the city in order to sell them at low prices.
In his lawsuit, Jeffrey Hogue demands that the property of the charitable foundation be returned as of 1938. Interest in the return of real estate is caused by the increase in the cost of housing in the Austrian capital, where prices have increased several times in recent years.
