Russia responds to accusation of involvement in Ukrainian scandal in the U.S.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Sakharova commented on Facebook the statement of the U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi about Russia’s involvement in the scandal surrounding the conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelinsky.

A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman pointed out that it was Pelosi who fanned the scandal around the topic and called for Trump’s impeachment in connection with the conversation. Therefore, she said, “according to the speaker’s logic, Russia had a hand in it.”

She said earlier on September 27 that Pelosi sees a Russian trace in the scandal surrounding the conversation of heads of state. The speaker did not provide any evidence for his words. The author of the document expressed concern that the Us President is using his powers to blackmail another state to interfere in the 2020 elections. The complaint also said the administration tried to hide the true content of the conversation.

A day earlier, the White House released a transcript of a conversation between Trump and Green, held in late July. Details of the conversation of the presidents, which were not previously publicly available, became the reason for the announcement by American parliamentarians about the beginning of the procedure of impeachment of the American leader.
