Russian citizen Aleksey Burkov, accused of computer crimes, intends to plead guilty in a Us court, his lawyer Gregory Stambo told RIA Novosti.
“I can state that Mr. Burkov intends to plead guilty to some charges on the 23rd. The plea document will be made public at the same time,” Stambo said.
Burkov faces up to 80 years in prison for five criminal episodes related to hacking. The prosecution believes he caused more than $20 million in damages. Burkov was detained in 2015 in Israel and extradited to the United States in November 2019.
