“Army General Sergei Shoigu invited Mark Esper to take part on June 24, 2020, in a military parade on Red Square in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory,” the report says.
In addition, Shoigu suggested that the American side join forces in the fight against coronavirus. At the same time, Moscow expressed concern about the US withdrawing from the Open Skies Treaty and withdrawing from other arms control treaties.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian defense minister said that only military personnel with immunity to COVID-19 or without signs of infectious diseases would participate in the June 24 parade. The parade of 19 countries was invited to participate in the parade.
Due to the spread of coronavirus, the traditional Victory Day parade on May 9 was canceled. At the end of last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to hold the event on June 24 – by his decree this day was declared a day off.
