The situation with the spread of COVID-19 in the CIS countries remains difficult, but stable, as reported by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor on the official website on April 21.
On April 21, 2020, an extraordinary meeting of the Coordination Council on the problems of sanitary protection of the territories of the CIS member States from the import and spread of particularly dangerous infectious diseases was held in the video conference mode, which was dedicated to the current situation with the spread of COVID-19, the message reads. At the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the relevant ministries of the CIS member States, as well as the CIS Executive Committee and the regional office for Europe of the world health organization, it was noted that the epidemiological situation in the CIS countries as a whole continues to be difficult, but stable. Prevention measures taken by national governments help to contain the spread of infection.
The meeting noted the special role that is assigned to testing the population for a new coronavirus. Therefore, all CIS countries expressed their gratitude to the Russian side for providing highly effective test systems developed By the state scientific center of Virology and biotechnology “vector” of Rospotrebnadzor, the report says. They allow timely detection of persons with a new coronavirus infection. In total, test systems were transferred to the CIS countries for about 200 thousand studies. In addition, participants of the meeting noted the use of methods and recommendations of Russian specialists in conducting anti-epidemic measures.
