Moldovan President Maia Sandu has decided to nominate former Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilita as the country’s prime minister, Sputnik Moldova reports.
“I have decided to nominate Natalia Gavrilita, a person I trust and a professional, as a candidate for prime minister,” the head of state said.
Sandu added that she instructed Gavrilitsa to form the country’s government team and prepare a cabinet program “based on economic development and on cleaning up state institutions from corruption.”
On December 31, 2020, Sandu appointed Moldovan Foreign Minister Aurelia Ciocoia as interim prime minister. Prior to that, the country’s prime minister, Ion Kiku, resigned in order to allow the country to hold early parliamentary elections.
