The Saudis will build the greenest city, 170 km long!

At first glance, there are people in any city and the new venture is not surprising. But on closer inspection, it becomes clear why the new city project in Saudi Arabia is unique. The fact is that in any city there are not only people but also cars and roads. In the city, which will be named Line, there will be no roads or cars. Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of the country, said during the announcement that it will be the most environmentally friendly city on the planet!

The project is called The Line, which can be translated as “The Line”. The city will correspond to it, it will be stretched in a “line” length of 170 kilometers. It is assumed that urban infrastructure will occupy three levels. First, the top will be created in the most comfortable environment for people. Residents and visitors to the city will not see a single car. The service transportation between and within the individual districts will move along the roads paved on the second level.

And finally, on the third level will be built a transport system using the principles of Hyperloop. It will become the “backbone” of the city, its backbone, providing fast movement throughout the territory. It is assumed that the trip from the district to the district will not take more than 20 minutes, and it will be possible to get most household services within walking distance from the place of residence. The new greenest city will consume energy derived only from renewable sources.

The authors of the project expect that by 2030 the number of residents in it will exceed one million. It is planned to create at least 380,000 jobs and support the development of business and new high-tech projects that can make life even easier for citizens. The construction of this city will be part of the larger Neom project. The Saudis are ready to invest $500 billion in the greenest city. Its goal will be to reduce the country’s dependence on oil production.
