Slovenian Defence Minister Karl Eriavec decided to evacuate Slovenian servicemen on the territory of Iraq as part of the NATO mission after receiving information about Iranian strikes on the alliance’s facilities. This was reported on Wednesday on the official website of the Slovenian Defense Ministry.
“In connection with the attack on Erbil Airport, Defense Minister Karl Eriavec has decided to withdraw six Slovenian servicemen participating in Operation Enduring Resistance from the area of operation”, – the statement says.
Slovenian President Borut Pahor, who is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the country’s Armed Forces, and Prime Minister of the Republic Marijan Šarec were informed about the decision.
It is also noted that none of the Slovenian servicemen were injured during missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq. The country, which will become its new deployment point, is not disclosed.
