The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reports on the forceful reaction in Syria to the events that took place on a section of the Deir ez-Zor-Palmira highway. Recall that a convoy of Syrian troops was ambushed by militants – writes Military Review.
As a result of the terrorist attack, as “Military Review” reported earlier, 28 Syrian servicemen were killed and about 20 wounded. ISIS (*banned terrorist organization in Russia) fighters claimed responsibility for this attack on the SAA.
According to SOHR, Russian and Syrian combat aviation was in the air afterward. The reports said that the Russian Air Force carried out missile and bombing strikes against the militants of the said terrorist group in the provinces of Deir Ez-Zor and Homs. In this region of the SAR, there are still territories in which fighters are still operating, as the events related to the attack on the Syrian military convoy showed.
It is claimed that Russian planes were assisted by the Syrian Air Force in strikes against the militants. The initial reconnaissance was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). They were used to identify fighter concentrations in the aforementioned region of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The same source reports an increased concentration of pro-Iranian forces in the area of Abu Kamal, a Syrian border town in eastern Syria. The reports speak of the arrival of these forces through Iraqi territory. If this information is true, it is quite possible to expect another activity from Syria’s Israeli neighbors – with probable strikes on Syrian territory.
