The Russian diplomat, declared persona non grata by the Austrian authorities, worked in the post-presidency of international organizations in Vienna, an informed source told RIA Novosti.
“He worked in the post-presidency for international organizations,” the source said.
Last Thursday, a diplomatic source told RIA Novosti that the Russian diplomat had left Austria.
Earlier on Monday, August 24, the Austrian Foreign Ministry confirmed to RIA Novosti reports that the Russian diplomat had been expelled, saying that his conduct was contrary to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
In turn, the Austrian Ambassador to Moscow Johannes Aigner was then summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, he expressed a strong protest against Vienna’s unreasonable decision to expel a Russian diplomat from the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. As a retaliatory measure, the diplomat of the Embassy of the Austrian Republic in Russia has been declared persona non grata.
