Swiss authorities reported the detention of two Russian spies who allegedly attempted to assassinate Hermitage Capital investment fund founder William Browder at a forum in Davos. This is reported by the newspaper Tages Anzeiger with reference to law enforcement agencies, the information was confirmed by Reuters and the Briton himself.
According to the media, the Russians were plumbers of the “Russian House” and should not have had diplomatic accreditation. They allegedly conducted preparatory work since the summer of 2019. “Swiss security services have allegedly prevented Russia’s espionage operation against me,” Browder wrote on Twitter. In his opinion, Moscow has been “hunting” for him for a long time and even tried to cancel his participation in the Davos forum. However, the WEF management refused to grant the request.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is held in Davos from 21 to 24 January.
