Syrian government forces used to suppress the militants of one of the terrorist groups jet system, which was called “rocket monster”. The Network has a video confirming the legitimacy of the name. The official name of the system is Golan-1000. This is the fruit of the thought of Syrian engineers who installed on the t-72 tank guides for three rockets. It must be said that the “rocket monster” belongs to the category of creations of “craftsmen”. It is quite clear that in a short time and also without the necessary experience, it is impossible to create an original jet engine with the parameters for the necessary dynamics of the flight of the projectile of record weight and caliber. Therefore, it can be assumed that the engine was used from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) “Grad” (122 mm) or Czechoslovak Vz.51 (130 mm). This explains the fact that the firing range “missile monster” is small, within a few kilometers. Some sources even insist that the shells fly only one Small and accuracy. However, this is not essential, since MLRS do not fire on specific targets, but on the areas in which the targets are located. A large psychological role of “rocket monster”, it makes so much noise that the salvo of three missiles, the earth literally stands on its hind legs, the enemy panic. There are MLRS that are designed by professionals, but they cause a sense of amateurism. And it all depends on the customer. Since the development takes place under the motto “for your money — any whim.”
The United Arab Emirates ordered Turkey MLRS unprecedented power. And the company Roketsan has developed a system Multiple Cradle Launcher (MCL), which got into the Guinness Book of records. It owns the world record rate of fire, to which none of the existing systems can even come close. In two minutes, MCL produces 240 122 mm rockets with a range of 20 km. One volley covers an area of up to 4 square km.
This, of course, is a lot. And the enemies of the UAE should tremble with fear at the sight of this monster. However, the monster has a number of shortcomings (not technical, but conceptual), which used in the real business significantly reduces its capabilities. After all, the enemy “naked arithmetic” can not crush.
The system is so bulky that it can be compared with a dinosaur. But first, let’s list its advantages.
On a five-axle towed semitrailer weighing 105 tons, the designers placed four rotary launchers. In each, there are three PU transport-launch container 20 missiles of caliber 122 mm each. Thus, in each PU are placed 60 missiles. Four — 240.

MCL has a high degree of automation — the calculation includes three people, including the driver of the tractor. An effective fire control system includes an integrated inertial-satellite navigation system. The operator has the ability to control the firing for each PU while setting different algorithms.
The platform also offers a crane for reloading the launchers. Shooting control comes from the armored cab of the tractor.
The MCL combat vehicle is operated in tandem with a transport and charging machine, which is located on the same semi-trailer and is towed by the same tractor. Therefore, the movement of this pair has obtained a caravan with a length of 60 meters. This is a drawback, MCL is easy to detect with the help of simple optics.
The MCL is extremely low permeability, it can only move to the shooting site on the highway. Even greater dependence on road infrastructure was only in armored trains. But they have not been used for a long time.
The huge ammunition of this MLRS is not only good but also a disadvantage that affects the survivability of the system. The cooldown of all guides takes a very long time, during which the MCL is defenseless for enemy counter-battery fire and air attacks.
In order to protect the system from destruction, it needs to be given significant defensive resources. First of all, it should be a short-range anti-aircraft missile system capable of intercepting not only aircraft and helicopters, but also cruise missiles. In the NATO armies such a universal complex, which at least remotely resembled our “Armor-S”, simply does not exist.
From this, it follows that the record MLRS can be operated very limitedly. That is not against regular armies that have the resources to ensure the destruction of MCL, and against the guerrillas. Of course, the Turks are a miracle of firepower in your army that is not going to use. Moreover, they do not even produce MCL in their factories. All technical and technological documentation was transferred to the customer. On that their participation in the project was completed. The customer has established the production of MCL. Returning to the Syrian “rocket monster”, it is necessary to say which systems after the Golan-1000 are in the top three in caliber.

But if we judge the combat value of the MLRS not by the record of any parameters, but by the efficiency, the most promising systems in which a balance between firepower, range, accuracy, and mobility is achieved.
