The riots on the streets of Portland escalated after the use of tear gas near Mayor Ted Wheeler.
In Portland, USA, federal forces fired tear gas on protesters, including Mayor Ted Wheeler. Reported by the New York Times.

Wheeler joined protesters outside the Justice Center on Wednesday night.

Ted Wheeler denounced the use of tear gas. He called it a “flagrant overreaction” by federal forces, not a de-escalation strategy. The mayor called on federal agents to leave the city. We will remind that in Portland for about two months the protests, caused by the death of African American George Floyd during the police arrest, have continued.

It was also reported that unmarked paramilitary units have appeared in Portland, which harshly detained protesters.
