Clashes in the state began after the death of a black man who was detained by police.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walls has brought in US National Guard fighters to maintain order because of protests caused by the death of African-American George Floyd. The corresponding decree was published on May 28.
Walsh’s statement said that US National Guard fighters should help “keep things safe and calm.”
The decision was made after acts of vandalism, as well as clashes between demonstrators and the police.
Recall Floyd died after being detained by the police in intensive care. The video recorded by eyewitnesses of the situation shows how the police threw the man down and handcuffed him, and one of them pressed his neck with his knee.
The detainee said several times that he could not breathe and then lost consciousness.
