The submarine Kolpino fired the Kalibr missile system in the Black Sea water area during the Kavkaz-2020 exercise and the target was hit, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“The crew of the submarine of the Black Sea Fleet “Kolpino” fired the Kalibr missile system at the coastal target position at the combat training ground within the Strategic Command and Staff Exercise (SCSE) “Caucasus-2020″,” the report says.
The crew of Kolpino launched one missile from an underwater position, which flew to the target about 100 nautical miles. “Visual surveillance equipment (unmanned aerial vehicles) recorded a successful hit of the missile at the target,” the message stressed.
Exercise “Caucasus-2020” takes place on September 21-26 in the Southern Military District and in the Black and Caspian Seas under the leadership of Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov. About 80 thousand people take part in them, including employees of the Emergency Situations Ministry and Rosgvardia, as well as up to 1 thousand military men from Armenia, Byelorussia, Iran, China, Myanmar, and Pakistan.
