The Pentagon has allowed the placement of migrant children at their facilities

The Ministry of Health will be responsible for their well-being

The Pentagon said it approved a request to place unaccompanied migrant children at two military sites in Texas amid a sharp rise in the number of migrants arriving at the US-Mexico border.

The report says the Defense Department has approved a request from the Department of Health and Human Services for the temporary placement of children at the San Antonio-Lackland Combined Military Base and Fort Bliss.

“The Ministry of Health will maintain custody and be responsible for the well-being of these children at all times when they are at the bases,” said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.

He added that the children will be accommodated in a free hostel and in temporary housing.
