Details have emerged about the shooting of Thai soldier Jakrapanth Thomma, who wounded and shot dozens of people while seizing a shopping mall in Thailand. This is reported by Reuters.
The 32-year-old soldier worked at a military base near Nakhon Ratchasima, Corat, about 250 kilometers from the Thai capital. Before opening fire, the assailant posted a message on Facebook of his thirst for revenge but did not elaborate on his motives.
According to the agency, he opened fire on Saturday, February 8. The attacker fired the first shot at home, then went to the military unit, shooting the commander and two other colleagues, and then began to kill people in the shopping center “Terminal-21”. The soldier was held hostage by 16 people. At the same time, Tomma broadcast what was happening on the social network.
“We don’t know why he did it. He seems to have gone mad,” Defense Ministry spokesman Kongcheep Tantrawanit told Reuters.
Earlier, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha called the motive for the shooting conflict on domestic grounds. According to the politician, a conflict broke out between Tomma and his colleagues over the sale of the house.
The soldier was eliminated at about 05:00 Moscow time. One special forces soldier was killed during the special operation. A total of 26 people were killed and 57 other citizens were wounded. All the dead and injured are locals.
