OSCE and UN have so far commented on the words of the Belarusian opposition leader
The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said on Thursday that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the UN are ready to mediate any negotiations between Tikhanovskaya and the Belarusian authorities.
As the leader of the opposition of Belarus explained in a video message distributed on March 18, the OSCE and the UN are ready to organize a platform and act as mediators, as well as put pressure on the regime in order to induce it to negotiate.
According to Tikhanovskaya, negotiations may begin in May, and elections in Belarus may take place in the fall.
The OSCE and the UN have not yet commented on the words of the opposition leader.
Tens of thousands of Belarusians took to the streets after the August 9 presidential elections in the country. Alexander Lukashenko has declared his victory, but protesters say the election results were rigged and that Tikhanovskaya is the real winner.
