The president will reportedly present the award to Congressman Jim Jordan next week
President Donald Trump is presenting one of the nation’s highest civilian honors Monday to House members Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan, who are among his most loyal supporters in Congress.
Earlier, a White House spokesman confirmed that Trump will present Nunes with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Monday. The California congressman, who previously chaired the House Intelligence Committee, actively supported Trump during the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and the 2019 impeachment investigation.
The award, established by President John F. Kennedy, recognizes outstanding contributions to national security, world peace, or cultural or other important public or private endeavors.
Jordan, who represents Ohio in Congress, is expected to receive the Medal of Freedom next week.
Trump’s intention to honor lawmakers was first reported by the Washington Post.
