US President Donald Trump in a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced his readiness to provide Moscow with assistance in combating the spread of coronavirus infection. White House spokesman Judd Deere said this on Thursday, May 7. “President Trump and President Putin discussed progress in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic,” he wrote on Twitter, adding that the US president said that the United States is ready to help any country, which needs it, including Russia.
Deer also said that the leaders exchanged congratulations on the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany, and also touched on topics of mutual interest.
The Kremlin’s press service said Trump and Putin also discussed the situation on the global oil market.
“The timeliness of the conclusion was noted, largely due to the interaction of the presidents of Russia and the USA, of the new OPEC + agreement, which was launched on May 1 and has already had a practical impact on the stabilization of oil prices,” the publication said.
