A lawsuit is filed to prevent the U.S. President from filing tax returns with the investigation.
U.S. President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit with the Court of Appeals, seeking an injunction to comply with the lower court’s decision, which ordered Trump to file tax returns with the investigation over the past eight years. The court’s decision is related to the investigation of the President’s business structures.
Trump’s defense claims that the court’s decision was politically motivated.
The hearing is scheduled for September 25. Trump’s lawyers said that if the Court of Appeals did not uphold the suit, they would challenge it in the U.S. Supreme Court.
The previous six U.S. presidents – three Republicans and three Democrats – had made public their tax returns.
