Turkey criticizes U.S. decision to partially lift arms embargo on Cyprus

Ankara is ready to take retaliatory steps, the Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic says
Turkey is prepared to take retaliatory steps to ensure the security of the Turkish Cypriots if the United States does not reconsider its decision to partially lift the arms embargo on Cyprus. This is stated in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic. We expect the United States to reconsider its decision and support existing efforts to bring peace and stability forward. Otherwise, Turkey will take appropriate steps to guarantee the security of the Turkish people of Cyprus in accordance with legal and historical responsibility,” the communique reads.
