U.S. to conduct a missile defense experiment on the ISS

The U.S. Space Development Agency plans to test on the International Space Station (ISS) equipment for tracking hypersonic missile launches, the U.S. specialized website spacenews.com reported.
The Prototype Infrared Payload, which operates in the infrared range, will be on board the American Northrop Grumman cargo ship Cygnus, which will fly to the station in July.

It is reported that the experiment will be conducted while the spacecraft on the ISS and will collect the data necessary to develop equipment for the detection of hypersonic and ballistic missile launches. In the future, this equipment will be installed on low-orbit missile warning satellites.
