In the U.S., a patient had a face and both hands transplanted

Only two attempts to transplant a face and two hands had been made in the world before this operation, but they were unsuccessful
Doctors at the University Medical Center in New York City performed surgery to transplant two hands and a face on 22-year-old Joe Dimeo. It was reported by CNN.

The surgery was performed in August 2020. Doctors waited to make sure the grafts were not rejected by Dimeo’s body. When the grafts took root, the operation was declared a success.

Prior to that, there had been only two attempts to transplant a face and two hands in the world, but they were unsuccessful.

Joe Dimeo was reportedly involved in a car accident in July 2018, falling asleep at the wheel while returning home after a night shift. His car hit a curb, flipped over, and caught fire. Dimeo had a burn of 80% of his skin. Earlier it was reported that in Lviv, the Clinical Emergency Hospital performed the first liver transplant surgery.
