U.S. protesters in Los Angeles dump irradiated male flies

King Air, flying over most of Los Angeles from May 28 to June 1, did not watch the protesters because of the death of African-American George Floyd, reports The Drive.
According to the American publication, in fact, the aircraft scattered from the air the irradiated (sterilized) males of the Mediterranean fruit fly, one of the agricultural pests. The Drive writes that the aircraft is registered with Dynamic Aviation, with which the California government has entered into an appropriate agreement to control this insect population.
The publication recalls that a similar approach replaced the spraying of pesticides used in the 1980s. The Drive notes that this method can reduce the number of insects, however, probably not all males of the Mediterranean fruit fly after irradiation may be sterilized.

In another publication, the publication writes that a Bell 412 helicopter of the United States National Nuclear Safety Agency flew over protesters in Washington, DC, which could track possible use of a dirty bomb in the crowd and other threats.
Pogroms in the US began in May amid the death of African-American George Floyd in Minneapolis, which protesters accuse police and racism.
