The United States may be the first to use nuclear weapons against Russia in the event of an unintentional launch, as both countries have a large arsenal of weapons. This was told by experts of the American journal “The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists.”
“As long as there are large arsenals, there is always a possibility of either intentional launch or unintentional,” RIA Novosti quoted Professor Sharon Squissoni as saying. According to her, the “existential threat comes” from the very number of weapons stockpiles in Russia and the United States. Her colleague Roberta Latiff believes that Russia and China have no intention of attacking the United States with nuclear weapons. Scientists have said that the possibility of using weapons by other states, such as Pakistan, poses a much greater risk.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the resumption of the arms race with the United States. The reason for the statement was America’s withdrawal from the treaty on the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles (IRBM).
