The United Arab Emirates will become the first country in the Persian Gulf to allow foreigners to obtain citizenship. The state news agency WAM writes about it.
Investors, doctors, inventors, scientists, intellectuals, artists, and their families will be able to apply for citizenship. Applications will be reviewed by the government and local executive branch.
“The new decree aims to attract talented people who will contribute to our development,” UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is quoted as saying.
Requirements vary for the professions, but the general rule is that a candidate must have at least 10 years of experience and a letter of recommendation from respected figures in the UAE.
