The Fifth Committee of the UN General Assembly approved the budget for 2021, after which it was supported by the plenary session.
The UN General Assembly approved the organization’s budget for 2021 at the level of $3.2 billion. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said at the Fifth Committee meeting that despite reduced liquidity, “processes and structures have demonstrated their importance, allowing us to remain open and work effectively.”
In October, Guterres had proposed $2.99 billion in 2021 to fund the UN, but members of the General Assembly agreed to increase the budget.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that all countries in the world should declare a “climate emergency.”
