In Brussels today, February 1, an unidentified man with a knife attacked subway passengers. The media are reporting at least one wounded.
The incident took place at the Gare de l’Ouest station.
“I was in the car and suddenly heard someone screaming. I saw a man stabbing a woman in the throat. Panic ensued! We didn’t know what to do. The woman was bleeding. Then the police arrived and we were evacuated,” an eyewitness was quoted as saying by RTL Belgium.
According to the police, the attacker was detained by station security officers. The woman has been hospitalized. Traffic on the subway line has been suspended. Police units are working at the site. The Belga news agency reports, citing a police source, that the incident may “concern a private dispute.”
