The United States is considering the possibility of taking additional measures against the DPRK in connection with the new missile tests of Pyongyang. This was announced at a press conference on March 29 by US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
“We have consulted with our Japanese and South Korean counterparts, held a sanctions committee meeting, and we are considering additional actions that we can take here in New York,” she said.
On March 25, North Korea launched two ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. According to the Japanese military, the missiles covered a distance of about 450 kilometers and fell into the sea outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
The US State Department stated that the actions of the DPRK destabilize the situation in the region and the world as a whole, and also violate the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
